Ex has my son in baseball 8 months out of the year, 3 hours away from me. Can't afford this!!?

When it is your legal visitation weekend...you choose to do what you want to do...perhaps that is baseball perhaps not...its your choice...why not ask your son what he wants...(you didn't say his age). We all do things for your children that is major difficult decisions...If finances are a problem...perhaps a second job when you do not have the children would be good until the child is 18.
