Uncharacterized Military discharge?
Im 18 years old, and im currently in the Army National Guard in Texas but I'm still in High School and may have to be held back or temporarily un-enroll because of unforeseen family emergencies popping up and I am needed. It's not the way I wanted things but I have little choice. I have not reported to basic training (It starts in July) or any of my other trainings yet except for a few Drills with the National Guard. Now my question is this: I have already been talking to my recruiter about this and he somewhat understands my perspective and said the best thing I could get for having to terminate my contract would be an uncharacterized discharge but I was wondering If this would reflect my civilian life. Namely grants or help with college/buying a house and future career opportunities. Any help would be appreciated on this matter, thanks in advance.
