What are some good books with action magic, dragons and a good storyline?

OK I've been searching for a good book for my guy friends birthday but cant come up with anything, he doesn't want a girly book, loves fiction dragons, fantasy and magic (his favorite book is The last dragon but he also likes loch, and so you want to be a wizard) Any good suggestions
